Dress rehearsal!

Friday, November 27th, 2009

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! We’re moving into our tech week and dress rehearsals, and I have to say I am SO impressed with this cast. They have been “off book” for nearly two weeks, which has allowed their characters to emerge, and has allowed me to tweak the blocking and continue to add nuances that will make the play more “real.” This weekend we’ll be going into overtime as we add costumes, sound, lights, etc. We are so very excited with the great ticket sales for this show, and we look forward to seeing many of you there. It is turning out to be THE Best Christmas Pageant Ever and we’re having a ball! Thanks to the amazing cast and crew…..

Completed first week in Playhouse!

Monday, November 9th, 2009

Hi everyone!

I’m happy to report that the cast of TBCPE has moved into the Playhouse, and we completed our first week of rehearsals in the space. Many thanks to the Wait Until Dark crew for clearing everything out so quickly!! My cast is completely off book for Act 1 (hurray!) and this week we’re focusing on Act 2. Our set will be in place this week, along with music and lights. While I’m thrilled with everyone, the younger folks never cease to amaze me - their talent and dedication is incredible. I’m deeply in debt to everyone on and off the stage who is bringing this to life. Be sure to get your tickets now, as I hear they’re going fast!! I hope to say it’s sold out very soon!!

Christmas in October!

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

Hi everyone!

I’m pleased to report that we have blocked all of ACT 1, and will be moving into ACT 2 this week. While my casting decisions were tough, I have to say that my cast is doing an AMAZING job! Especially considering we have not been able to (understandably) get into the Playhouse yet, so we have been rehearsing at my church which, given the context of our play, is quite appropriate! We will continue there this Wednesday and Sunday, and then move into the Playhouse a week from next Monday, November 2 - yeah!

In the meantime, please check out this site:

Thanks to our producer Derek (who also happens to be my husband! :) for setting up all sorts of great souvenirs we can purchase. I hope you find something there you like! I’d love to see everyone sporting t-shirts prior to our show opening as another means of promotion.

Lastly, on promotion, don’t forget to spread the word…while we’ve sold over 400 tickets (yeah!) I’d love for this to sell out!! Thank you - I’ll post more soon!

First read-through

Wednesday, October 7th, 2009

I am delighted by our first read-through tonight! A director always hopes upon selecting their cast that they will, even from the initial reading, breathe life into the characters, and this was certainly the case this evening. A huge THANK YOU to my amazing crew, particularly Claudia, Tony and Derek, and to all the parents for allowing me to spend time with their children over the next couple months. We will be rehearsing in my church for the next few weeks until the Playhouse is available in November. It’s never too early to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas, and while last year’s show was amazing, I look forward to making this THE Best Christmas Pageant Ever!

[title of post]

Friday, October 10th, 2008

Derek and I just returned from the B’way show “title of show.” We saw this off-B’way a couple years ago, and tonight got half-price tickets in the second row. It’s unfortunately closing on Sunday, but it is a clever, realistic look at two guys writing a show that they dream will make it onto the “Great White Way.” Talk about life imitating art! Or vice versa! :) You could tell the show’s songs hit really close to home, as you could see the tears in their eyes. Those of us who have been in shows know the excitement of the show’s opening and the sadness when it closes. It’s always important to enjoy the ride, and remember another show will always come around - and, speaking of shows, we have a great line-up here next year, I look forward to seeing you all there!
